Following on from what it did with Microsoft Office Equation Editor, 0patch has already announced that it is going to " security-adopt " Windows 7 and Windows Server Microsoft has -- at least in theory -- released the last update for Windows 7 that will be available to everyone.
So 0patch is taking over. The company will use security advisories that are issued by Microsoft to determine any vulnerabilities in Windows 7 and Windows Server that need addressing, and work to produce fixes.
Using 0patch mean that you don't have to pay out a penny to Microsoft, but it doesn't necessarily mean that you will be able to keep Windows 7 updated and secure free of charge. The Free tier, obviously, doesn't cost anything, but no Windows 7 patches are guaranteed to be released for free.
The company explains :. Clearly relying on a third party to secure your operating system requires something of a leap of faith and trust in a company you may be unfamiliar with. But over the years 0patch has proved its worth, and for anyone who -- for whatever reason -- is going to continue using Windows 7, its micropatches could represent the most cost-effective and sensible way of keeping the unsupported operated system secure.

On the left side of the Update window, you have the option to view your update history. Recently installed updates are shown here organized by status, importance, and date installed. If a rogue update is causing issues, you can uninstall it from this window. However, Windows 10 is a little more work than that. Windows 10 will automatically download and install updates in the background.
When a restart is required, Windows will warn you beforehand and let you decide whether to restart immediately or later. Keep in mind that if you postpone the restart too long, Windows will eventually require one.
From here, you can view recently installed updates and uninstall any problematic ones. Uninstalled updates will eventually reappear later, though.
Windows is famous for automatically restarting the machine for an update at inopportune times. However, using the Active Hours feature prevents this issue. Windows will avoid restarting itself between those times. Windows 10 is great, but sometimes you need to take more control.
