When we assessed it back in June, we were critical of the fact that it didn't exactly bring much in the way of innovation to the table, and while we stand by that opinion there's no denying that the online multiplayer facet is exemplary. True, there are better puzzle games on the DS — almost every other title in this list is superior — but if you intend to indulge in head-to-head action then this along with Tetris DS comes highly recommended.
Picross DS Developer: Jupiter Publisher: Nintendo Released: Some puzzle titles look so uninspiring that it's hard to really appreciate their appeal until you actually sit down and play, and Picross definitely falls into this category. As the name suggests, this is essentially a crossword but with pictures, with the aim being to create a complete image by marking the correct boxes.
What initially seems like a very slow and laborious task quickly evolves into a pastime that almost borders on the obsessive; the feeling of finally completing a particularly tricky puzzle is immensely gratifying.
This is so far detached from the breakneck pace of Meteos and Tetris that it almost seems foolish to class all these titles in the same genre, but if you're after a more intellectually arresting puzzle experience then look no further.
Meteos Developer: Q Entertainment Publisher: Bandai Released: Produced by legendary ex-Sega staffer Tetsuya Mizuguchi famous for creating Sega Rally and Rez , Meteos was an early indication of the kind of unique experience that could be produced using the DS's touchscreen interface. At first glance it appears to be your common 'falling block' puzzle title, but the twist here is that you can fling blocks upwards using the stylus, with the overall aim being to group blocks according to their colour.
At this point the blocks promptly unleash their latent explosive potential and jettison themselves skywards. If you can form enough of these volatile combinations you can successfully boost an entire formation of blocks off the top of the screen.
At times it's somewhat intimidating and relies too much on luck, but it nevertheless remains a thoroughly addictive proposition. Just be sure to avoid the sickly-sweet Disney-branded sequel, though. Slitherlink Developer: Hudson Publisher: Hudson Released: Japan Like Picross , Slitherlink is a puzzle title that doesn't show its hand until you've invested a bit of time in it.
The core concept is simple, as our original review explains: "You're presented with a grid of dots, some of which contain the numbers zero, one, two or three. All you need to do is draw a single loop through some of those dots in such a manner that each of the numbers is fenced in on as many sides as their numerical value demands.

Jan 8, By Gary Stokes. Great game! I love it a lot. Maybe make the 1st couple levels harder. Helps me pass time! Thank you for making this game! Jan 1, By Joseph Johnson. This is my second review. The adds are not even a problem for me. For me there are barely any adds. I understand that the developer wants to make money from the adds. I completely get it, I would want to make money if I had a great game like this too.
If the developer is reading this, great job making the best app ever! Why cant people appreciate this app like I do. Seriously people! Jan 16, This morning, I re downloaded the game because I had accidentally deleted it. I got on it and I was devastated I lost my progress. Could the developers maybe make a fix to that so you can download your progress if the app got deleted?
Also, I was playing this morning and I completed a level. Please, please, please, pleaseeeee fix this!! Every time it pops up I have to get out of the game so it will go away. To developers and everyone out there Nov 3, By easter Also to the non-developers please shut up about all your nonsense I got this I am a v.
Bye more. Exciting and time consuming puzzles Apr 23, By addlily. Love this game! Perfect for when you have nothing to do while you wait for the doctor or after a big test to help calm down. The layout is simple and clean making it easy for people unfamiliar with technology to use. The pieces are large and can be placed with ease, proving good for people who have trouble messing with small buttons on their phone.
It stimulates your mind without giving you a horrible headache. Ads are hardly prevalent, with only a little ad bar at the bottom and very few pop ups. One of the best features are the hints that are obtained with no problem. This is very nice, as many games these days make it almost impossible or time consuming to get a little help.
Recommend Block! Hexa to anyone who wants to spend time while keeping their brain fit. Dec 16, By Scamp knitting. Totally a 5 star great puzzle type game. It's a game you won'tk down down with no time limit.
By Punkinsmasher. I actually love the game and I started low and worked my way up. I find it very enjoyable and a good mix between casual play and a genuine challenge. I have tried to not use my hints as an extra challenge and have only needed to use a few. I have collected almost hints between the first level all the way to the 7th.
There is also the option of occasionally, watching an ad to get a free hint that pops up on the bottom corner. I had a slight issue with the game completely freezing almost every time an ad popped up during the first week or so of playing the game.
It was frustrating but when the rotation of ads changed, the freezing stopped too. Overall, I would recommend the game. Dec 24, Now it's not fun anymore. It quits at will and I have to start over. I get "bug fixes" but THIS hasn't been fixed. Dec 13, By McScoops. Used to love this game, reinstalled years later and it's an ad after every puzzles. These puzzles take 20 seconds to solve each so that's an ad every minute or so.
Yeah it's a time killer, but not in the way you'd think. Rip you off Aug 18, By The main reason I play it is because it doesnt take internet which is nice when we go on long drives. So pretty much if you do all of the daily challenges for a week the max you can get of hints are 21 before the update you could get hints!!!!! Like if two people could compete on one device like who can finish the puzzle first.
And you could add a online version where random people can compete together, plz answer and thank you for reading this all. More Ads than gameplay Aug 17, By Ilomath. A 15 second puzzle is followed by a 30 second ad that needs to be clicked multiple times to close or it stays forever. Rewards for completing daily puzzles have also gotten progressively worse. At first you would get a free hint, but then they converted to coins, where 25 coins buys a hint.
Then they changed to a chance to win 10, 15, or 20 coins. If it was this bad when I started I would have deleted in a day. Dec 9, By Felicia. I like the puzzles but there's an add after every single level so if you finish the puzzles quickly you're really just watching back to back ads. See All Expert Reviews. Nov 13, By Fatima Osama Ameen.
Amazing fun and easy game. Ons thing is that the adds never stop. Alot of people find this annoying, and I do to. It's very annoying. If anyone could fix this please do. Overall, it's it's very good game! I wrote the step by steps accordingly, so hopefully it's easy to follow! Door opened. Proceed to the next room! It wasn't that bad, huh? The door should open, proceed to the final room of the Braintwister. It's easier than it looks. Note: This may get a little confusing. Keep track of where your Blocks are!
It is easier to remember which block is which if you just look at it's last position before it's next step. For example: When at Block 1's 5th step, look at where it ended on Block 1's 4th step. Triple block puzzles. And when that's done, the door will open. Congrats, you just completed the Braintwister puzzles. Don't be intimidated by the name, though.
While they are more difficult, that's what this guide is here for. There is a lot of fun on finding other ways to do it, but I will provide a step by step for one of the ways anyway. Enter and proceed down the hall to begin.
Door should open! Proceed to the next room. Door opened, proceed to the final room! And with that, you have finished the hardest set of block puzzles. I hope you enjoyed it, and I hope it was easy to follow. Please send any questions you may have to my email listed below.
